Pierce Hoff is an aspiring bassoonist and music education major at Indiana State University, dedicated to shaping the next generation of musicians through his teaching and performance. Pierce is a very strong student who has maintained a 3.9 GPA, received a performing arts scholarship, and earned multiple awards. He has also been on the dean's list every semester at Indiana State University. He is passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment where students develop technical proficiency, musical confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
As an emerging performer, Pierce has built a strong foundation in bassoon performance under the instruction of Mr. Chad Roseland. He serves as Co-Principal Bassoonist in both the Indiana State University Wind Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, where he has developed a reputation for musical excellence. Pierce is also a member of the True-Blue Woodwind Quintet, under the direction of Dr. Angela Reynolds, where he has expanded his experience as both a chamber musician and composer. Several of his original works have been written specifically for the ensemble and performed in live concert settings, demonstrating his creativity and commitment to advancing chamber music.
In addition to his concert performance experience, Pierce is a proud member of the Marching Sycamores, performing on piccolo and serving as the Marching Sycamores librarian, contributing to the university's athletic band program. His diverse performance experiences have strengthened his versatility as a musician and reinforced his belief in music's value in building community and inspiring others.
Beyond his collegiate studies, Pierce serves as the Woodwind Technician for the award-winning Edgewood High School Marching Band, where he mentors students in developing strong fundamentals, musicianship, and confidence both on and off the field. Through this role, he has gained valuable hands-on teaching experience while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Whether performing, composing, or teaching, Pierce is committed to inspiring others through music. He aspires to combine his experiences as a performer, composer, and educator to empower students to reach their full potential and cultivate a lifelong passion for music.
