Originally from Northern Indiana, Michelle now considers herself an official “Hautian”. Arriving in 1989 to study music education at Indiana State University, she has remained in Terre Haute and is proud to call it Home.
While at ISU, Michelle pursued a degree in music education and flute performance. Along with her flute studies with Dr. Joyce Wilson, she participated in many of the school’s ensembles. Michelle played in the ISU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Boyd and the athletic bands under the direction of Doug Keiser. While in the Wind Ensemble Michelle participated in the first of the ensemble’s cd recordings, “Capriccio” with the Chicago Saxophone Quartet. She began her woodwind studio in 1994 at the Conservatory of Music here in Terre Haute, teaching flute, clarinet and saxophone for over 20 years. In 2008 Michelle became an instructor for a music and wellness program for senior citizens. Having fought and defeated two types of cancer in the last decade, Michelle looks forward to teaching again and is grateful to Heartland Music Academy for giving her the chance to make music happen once again. *5th grade through college prep * Also music theory |
