John Schaeffer - Brass
John Schaeffer is a music education major at Indiana State University where he is studying instrumental, vocal, and general music education. He has been playing low brass instruments and singing in choirs since the age of 12. In high school he participated in ISSMA Vocal Solo and Ensemble for 6 years, All-Region Honor Band on trombone and All-District Honor Band on euphonium. He also performed with the Indiana State University Wind Symphony as the principal euphonium for 2 years.
During the last three summers, he has worked as a brass tech for 2 high schools. During the summers of 2019 and 2020, he was the low brass teacher for the Pendleton Height’s Marching Arabians, who made state finals during the 2019 season. During the summer of 2021, he was the teacher of all brass for the Tipton High School Marching Blue Devils, who made night-show at the Indiana State Fair Band Day with a distinction in music. While studying at ISU, he has learned much about education, music, and leadership. He has been in the Terre Haute classrooms over the last year and has gotten the opportunity to guest-teach Terre Haute North bands, Terre Haute South bands, Woodrow Wilson’s 8th grade woodwinds and percussion, and Woodrow Wilson’s general music class. |
