Nick Puchek hails from Highland, IN, where he attended Highland High School. Following high school graduation, he relocated to Terre Haute to and began his college career at Indiana State University. While studying at ISU, Mr. Puchek was the principal tubist in the Wind Orchestra and University Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with the Marching Sycamores and the Basketball Band.
Mr. Puchek earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education in May 2019.
During his educational career, Mr. Puchek has worked with students in grades K-12 teaching general music, music appreciation, special education, guitar, band, and orchestra. Additionally, he has served as a student teacher at Sullivan High School, Sullivan Middle School, and Franklin Central High School.
Mr. Puchek brings a wide range of music experience to Heartland Music Academy. This past summer marked his eighth season with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps—a world-class perennial finalist marching arts organization that travels the country and competes with other corps of the same caliber.
He was selected to be a marching member of the ensemble from 2012-2015. In 2016, he interned with the brass educational staff, and during the 2017-2019 seasons, Mr. Puchek was selected to serve as a tuba instructor on the brass educational staff.
